Our Friesian Mares
We have four mares, two of them being fully mature mares, at Morning Star Royal Friesians.  These mature mares are both of superb quality, and are wonderful horses to ride and drive.  They are:

Tialda S.is a star mare from a long line of star, preferent, and model mares in her pedigree.  She is by Teunis and her dam's sire is Oepke.  Tialda S. is stam 38.  (a "stam line" is a line of inheritance passed from mother to daughter which goes back to an original mare of note).  Tialda S. has the long legs of her sire (she is 16 1/2 hands tall), and the beautiful neck and head carriage of Teunis as well.  Her long striding walk and trot are remarkable, and her self carriage is excellent.   Tialda rides and drives with the patientience,  intelligence, and power that the breed is known for.  Tialda currently has a contract to be mated to Michiel 442 in Spring 2008.  Her last foal was a filly by Beart 411, conceived using frozen imported semen.

The next mare, Breanne, is studbook, third premie.  She too is from a "full papered" pedigree of many generations of star, model, and preferent grand dams, and is stam 38 just like Tialda S. above.  Breanne's maternal grand dam is the dam of the approved breeding stallions Tsjerk and Djurre.  Breanne is by Pyt, a stallion known for good height (Breanne is 16 1/4 hands tall)  and her mother's sire is Feitse.  Of all of our horses, none can compare in coat color to Breanne, who has the deepest blue black coat of them all.  It does not fade in summer, no matter how hot the summer, even though she doesn't spend much time in the shade.  She enjoys spending time out in the sun, although shade is available for her.  This unfading coat is something that one has to witness to believe, as ordinarily all black horses will fade if they receive enough of a beating from sun and sweat.  Her coat color is a unique quality that Pyt passed on to some of his offspring.  Breanne is a joy to ride or to drive, as she is very soft mouthed, responsive, forward, yet gentle.  Currently Breanne is in foal to Mintse 384 Sport for a foal expected in early summer 2008.
